The Ford brand has long been a leader when it comes to designing dependable trucks, which is why the F-150 has been the best-selling full-size option for more than 40 years. For many, reaching that pinnacle might make them step back and relax, enjoying the view from the top. Ford, however, asked itself how they could make the F-150 even better, which is where the Ford Lightning comes in.

The Lightning is Ford’s first all-electric F-150. It debuted for the 2022 model year and is one of many electric vehicles the brand has on its “to-do” list, hoping to achieve zero emissions no later than 2050 around the globe. Today, the 2025 Ford Lightning continues to turn heads, offering quick acceleration, a roomy frunk, advanced technology, and some of the latest driver assistance safety features on board. You can see the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning for sale up close when visiting our North Bay Ford team. We will take the time to answer any questions you have to ensure you have the details needed to find the best match for your driving needs. To get you started, keep reading to learn more about each of the four trims—not including the Pro option, which is designed for commercial use.

Exploring the 2025 Ford Lightning: Trim by Trim

As mentioned, the Ford Lightning debuted for the 2022 model year. What you might not know is that this isn’t the first time Ford has used the Lightning nameplate. The first Ford Lightning debuted in 1993 as part of the Special Vehicle Team (SVT) launch, along with the SVT Mustang Cobra. This version of the Lightning was available for two years. Then, in 1999, Ford introduced a new Ford Lightning that offered a supercharged engine and Flareside bed, among other things. Both versions were based on the F-150, as is the newest Lightning. With that bit of history in mind, let’s look at the four trims you can choose from to help you determine which might be the best for you.

2025 Ford Lightning XLT

While the Pro trim level is technically the base model, the XLT is the first trim that’s designed for the everyday driver rather than for commercial use. The XLT offers a standard range of 240 miles with an extended range of 320 miles. Additionally, it offers a maximum 7,700 lb towing capacity for extended range and 5,000 lbs for standard—both of which are more than enough to haul a boat, camper, or trailer. One of the key features of the XLT includes a unique LED lighting design that wraps around the headlamps, lighting up the front of the hood. On the inside, you’ll enjoy the available interior work surface, which is accessible thanks to the stowaway shifter. This gives you a flat surface to get some work done, eat lunch, or do anything else you might need to check off your list. There’s also a 360-degree camera, which gives you multiple angles to rely on when navigating tight spaces, ensuring you easily get where you’re going.

Continuing with the interior, you will also appreciate the 12-inch digital productivity screen, the Dual-Zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control, underseat storage, and the 12-inch touchscreen with SYNC 4 and enhanced voice recognition technology. In addition, with FordPass Connect you can utilize the 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot and connect up to 10 digital devices.

Regarding safety, the XLT is equipped with AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control, BLIS with Cross-Traffic Alert and Trailer Tow Coverage, Curve Control, and Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking. You will also find that it offers a number of features to assist with trailering, such as Pro Trailer Backup Assist and Pro Trailer Hitch Assist. Last but not least, the XLT comes with a 90-day trial of BlueCruise, Ford’s hands-free driving system.

2025 Ford Lightning Flash

Next in the lineup is the Flash. While the XLT offers both standard and extended options, the Flash focuses on the extended side of things, which means you can expect to tow up to 7,700 lbs and drive up to 320 miles on one charge. One thing you will notice right away as you slide into the driver’s seat is the upgraded touchscreen. Rather than the 12 inches the XLT offers, the Flash’s display is 15.5 inches. Additionally, the Flash has SYNC 4A, which provides you not only access to your favorite apps but also connected navigation services and cloud-based connectivity. Like SYNC 4, it is also enhanced with voice recognition. Plus, you can enjoy listening to your favorite playlist even more thanks to the optional B&O sound system.

The exterior of the Flash is equipped with a standard power tailgate, signature front lighting, and a tailgate step with a work surface. You can also opt to upgrade the power tailgate with unique signature rear lighting as well. In addition, you will enjoy Pro Power Onboard, giving you up to 2.4 kW of power or upgrade to 9.6 kW. The Mega Power Frunk is also worth noting, as it gives you additional storage space that traditional trucks don’t offer. How much storage? 14.1 cu.ft. to be exact, which is more than any other all-electric pickup. Not only that, but the frunk can hold up to 400 lbs. It has a durable, rubberized interior, a built-in drain hole—which makes it great when tailgating—and cargo accessories such as a net, hooks, and more to keep whatever you’re stowing in place. The frunk is a standard feature of all four trims.

Beyond the upgraded touchscreen, you will also find a standard wireless charging pad on the interior, with the same underseat storage. Technology-wise, you can also access FordPass Connect to take advantage of the Wi-Fi hotspot, as well as seamlessly connect your compatible phone to enjoy your favorite apps. For safety, you will find the same features available that were noted for the XLT trim. Finally, to make the most of your driving, you can opt for a three-year BlueCruise plan.

2025 Ford Lightning LARIAT

The LARIAT offers the same range and towing capabilities as the XLT trim. Additionally, you will find the same 15.5-inch touchscreen with SYNC 4A that the Flash offers. Setting it apart is the standard power tailgate with unique signature rear lighting, along with the signature front lighting that is standard for the previous two trims. There is also a standard twin-panel moonroof and power-sliding rear window glass. On the inside, many of the standard features notes for the Flash are front and center. Notable differences are ambient lighting and front heated and ventilated seating, along with heated seats for the rear. The LARIAT also includes upgraded safety features, such as rear and forward sensing systems and rain-sensing wipers. Like the Flash, you can also opt for a three-year BlueCruise plan.

2025 Ford Lightning Platinum

The top-tier trim level for the Lightning is the Platinum. This option gives you up to 320 miles—extended range—and up to 8,500 lbs of towing capacity. Key features include the premium Nirvana leather surface front seats, which take comfort to a whole other level. Additionally, the 10-way power driver’s seat with memory is so inviting that you will find yourself making excuses to get out and drive. Also, the Platinum trim comes standard with the Max Trailer Tow Package, which is only an option for the other trims. This package is what allows the truck to tow more than the others.

The exterior of the Platinum offers the same power tailgate with rear lighting as the LARIAT and the same front lighting as the other three. It also comes equipped with a twin-panel moonroof and power-sliding glass for the rear window. Additionally, while choosing the Flash trim gives you the option to add Pro Power Onboard 9.6 kW, it is standard for the Platinum trim.

On the inside, you will find ambient lighting, under-seat storage, heated and ventilated front seats, as well as a heated steering wheel. There is also a standard wireless charging pad, power-adjustable pedals with memory, rain-sensing wipers, and an outside temperature display. These features are in addition to the 15.5-inch touchscreen found on all but the XLT trim, along with SYNC 4A, the ability to access FordPass Connect for the 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, and a three-year trial to connected navigation. Also worth mentioning is the upgraded B&O Unleashed Sound System and the ability to take advantage of the three-year BlueCruise plan.
